My Story was Distributed in two Topics and Then Next day‘Not Distributed in Topics’
They hit where it hurts
To everyone, it may seem like just another ‘not distributed in topics story’ but it is not. I do not know why this happened to me. I have searched my whole social media network and no one has ever heard of anything like this. But if I stay silent and accept the things as they are it will be against all that I have ever believed in.
As a writer, I need to be heard
We are all writers here, we share the passion and love that goes into our stories.
On 3rd September I published a well-researched story with one of my favorite publications ‘Age of Awareness’.Within a few hours, I got an email confirmation of my story being curated in two topics.
The next day when I woke up the story stats still showed ‘distributed by curators’ in Coronavirus and World.
But by evening everything had changed . My story was not distributed anymore.
How this made me feel
I have been a regular writer on Medium for almost 5 to 6 months now. I love to express my self on Medium because I feel it is an ‘Equal opportunity platform’.
I have raised my voice here against racism, injustice, and inequality. I have read hundreds of stories by people who want to make a difference.
This is a place where with my tiny voice I still feel someone can hear me.
I am sure you all know the excitement that goes into your story being double curated. I was over the moon, I told my friends and family about it. This was the first story I wrote about Pakistan.
I live in the UK but I am from Pakistan and it holds strong sentimental value for me. This episode of my story being distributed and then not distributed raised a lot of questions.
Was it because Medium thought the story was not worthy of distribution because it was on the success of a poor county?
I don't know the answer but I want to know why this happened to me , and I will not go down without raising a voice.
