A boy who was standing in the hallway, suddenly fainted!

11 Nov 2015, It was during a school assembly for Armistice Day, one student at Outwood Academy in Ripon, England, began to feel ill. After he fainted it was a “domino effect”, reported by BBC News.

One after the other, four students fainted and many thought they were feeling sick. So, the secondary school called the ambulance service, who reportedly treated 40 students.

Some children had to be taken to a local health facility due to injuries caused after collapsing . No one was seriously hurt, yet everyone was perturbed.

What could be the cause of this?

Hazardous materials specialists were called in, but no gas or chemicals were found. Even the water was tested and school searched but there was no evidence of anything suspicious.

Fire station manager Dave Winspear stated ,

“We are of the view the children just fainted and there was a ripple effect throughout the school.”

Mass hysteria, mass psychogenic illness, and mass sociogenic illness, has been defined as a constellation of symptoms suggestive of organic illness
